Recently, CGGC Vice President Nie Kai met the group led by Sufian Ahmed, the Ethiopian Minister of Finance, and both sides reached the consensus on deepening the cooperation between CGGC and the Ethiopian Government.
Sufian Ahmed expected CGGC would play a broader role in the infrastructure construction in the African country, such as electric power, energy and transport, and make a great contribution to the local economy.
Ethiopia is reputed as the East African Water Tower". In recent years, CGGC has undertaken the Takaze Hydropower Station Project, the largest hydropower station in Africa, in Ethiopia, the FAN Hydropower Station, the Shire Road, Adigrat-Adwa-Shire Road Upgrading Project Contract 1:Shire-Adi Abun and other important projects in Ethiopia. These projects involve hydropower, road and other areas, and have been highly recognized by the local community.
When meeting the CGGC delegation last September, Premier Meles of Ethiopia hoped CGGC would participate in the local economic construction in a deeper and broader manner. In October, CGGC signed the EPC contract on the Genale-Dawa 3 hydropower hub project with Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation. In November, the Takaze Hydropower Station undertaken by CGGC was completed and started power generation.
Premier Meles of Ethiopia showed praise on CGGC at the celebration ceremony. While taking an active part in the infrastructure construction in Ethiopia, CGGC also cares for the public welfare, trains local technicians and aids the local education.
During the meeting, Sufian Ahmed appreciated CGGC for the contribution it has made to Ethiopia's infrastructure construction. He noted that the Takaze Hydropower Station and other projects built by CGGC have played an important role in Ethiopia's economic development, and expected both sides to deepen the cooperation to contribute more to Ethiopia's economic construction.
Nie Kai said CGGC owns the powerful technical strengths, strong financing ability and sound supervision system, and would deepen the cooperation with Ethiopia's local enterprises under the concept of common development to contribute to Ethiopia's economic development.
