CGGC donates 1m yuan to help Yunnan people combat draught

Updated: 2010-04-10

On April 8, 2010, CGGC Southwest Branch donated 1 million yuan ($16,473.10) to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to help Yunnan people combat the draught of the century.

The draught in the southwest region has lasted more than 170 days since the end of 2009. The most parts of Yunnan Province, the western part of Guizhou province and the northern part of Guangxi autonomous region have encountered the grand draught which was rare to see in one hundred years.

The draught in Yunnan province is the most serious, and has delivered a serious influence on the production and life of the local communities. As a powerful force under the flag of CGGC, the Southwest Company took its root in Yunnan Province more than two decades ago, focused on hydropower engineering as the principal operation, developed the railway market, gone international and has gradually grown strong.

At the same time, the company has not forgotten to perform its social responsibility. It has made an active response to the “Spring Rain Action” launched by the Chinese Red Cross Foundation during the draught in the southwest region, donated 1 million yuan on behalf of CGGC, sent a “timely rain” to the disaster-stricken areas, and used the practical action to express the limitless love for the people in the disaster-stricken areas.
