On Oct 16, the winners of 2009 China State Construction Engineering Luban Prize, the highest prize in China for construction projects, were announced. The Hainan Dalong pivotal water conservancy project, exclusively undertaken by CGGC, has won prize, representing the seventh time of the company receiving this honor.
It is also CGGC's second project receiving this award as a whole after the Qingjiang Geheyan Hydropower Station.

Located in the lower reaches of Ningyuan River to the west of Sanya city, Hainan Province, Dalong pivotal water conservancy project is the grade-2 large-scale water conservancy project in the basin of Ningyuan River and also a key project of water resources allocation in the south of Hainan Province.
The project is designed mainly for flood prevention, water supply and irrigation, and it can also be used for power generation. It is a reservoir for carry-over storage, and its designed total storage capacity of the reservoir is 468 million m³, the normal storage level is 70 meters high, the normal storage capacity is 393 million m³, and the flood control storage capacity is 148 million m³. It mainly consists of the barrage, spillway, water diversion tunnel and the power plant building. The barrage is a zoned earth-fill dam built on the major riverbed, and the dam top is 535 meters long, the elevation of dam top is 76.5 meters and the biggest dam top height is 65.5 meters.
During the 3.5-year construction, the No 1 Company of CGGC has complied with the contract and employed four environment-friendly technologies, namely, the non-foundation pit construction, full-cross-section vibroflotation compaction technique, use of environment-friendly materials and water and soil conservation and suspended net soil spraying-sowing technology, which were highly spoken by the client and the local government. After on-the-spot investigation, the review panel of China Construction Industry Association praised this project as a "model combination of water conservancy construction and ecological construction".
