CGGC wins Hydropower Station Project and Northern Rural Electrification Project in Laos

On Aug 20, 2009, CGGC published an announcement, saying the company had recently signed the contracts on the  Hydropower Station Project and the Northern Rural Electrification Project (EPC) with EDL, the state electric power company of Laos, in Beijing. The two contracts involve a combined value above $247 million.

According to the contract on the hydropower station project, the station shall have an installed capacity of 88,000kw, including a rock-fill dam with clay core, the water diversion system and the plant, the water diversion system shall consist of the low-pressure tunnel, the surge shaft, the vertical shaft, the high-pressure concrete tunnel and the high-pressure steel pipe tunnel, and the plant is an over-the-ground type equipped with two impact-type water turbines.

The project will adopt the EPC mode, including designing, procurement and construction, and involve a construction cost of roughly $206,261,750 and a construction period of 60 months.

The Northern Rural Electrification Project contract refers to the electrification reconstruction in some towns and rural areas in the eight north provinces of Laos. In total, the project will embed the 22kV power transmission line with a total length of 1,480 kilometers, install 440 transformers and put in place part of the civil electric power lines, and involve a budget of $41,151,670.

The project will also adopt the EPC mode, including designing, procurement and construction, and involve a total construction period of 24 months.
