As key part of emergency water supply works (Beijing- Shijiazhuang) of middle line of South-to-North Water Transfer Project, one of the national key projects, Caohe Aqueduct is located in Mancheng county, 30 kilometers northeast to Baoding, Hebei across Cao River and Malianchuan River. It is aslo on the critical path of water supply works for Beijing Olympic in 2008.

CGGC was awarded Lot 3 of Cao River, i.e. two third of total work. As the most difficult part in terms of construction, it includes 41 spans (30m for each) with total length of 1286.6 meters and design flow of 125m³/s and maxi flow of 150m³/s, which creates national records in terms of discharge capacity and single span. Hence it is the 2nd largest adequct in Asia, just behind in India.

In comparison with Dongjiang-Shenzhen Water Supply Project participated by CGGC was awarded Luban Prize in 2004, Caohe Aqueduct is more complicated in structure and stronger in water supply, which presents CGGC's advanced technology in aqueduct construction in China.
