A symposium on the development of a Taiwan-funded financial enterprises cluster was held in Huaqiao, Kunshan city, Jiangsu province, on Nov 23.
Financial experts and scholars from Shanghai, Jiangsu and Taiwan talked about “how to build a Taiwan-funded financial enterprises cluster” at the symposium.
Experts and scholars gave different opinions and professional advice during the in-depth discussions. They mentioned that Kunshan had rich experience in cross-Straits industrial development and financial cooperation.
The Kunshan Experimental Zone and Shanghai Free Trade Zone were approved for establishment, providing an opportunity to strengthen and further cross-Straits financial cooperation.
The guests believed that innovation and cooperation in the financial industry would boost cross-Straits economic growth. Moreover, they hoped Kunshan would give full play to policy advantages in the experimental zone in the process of creating a Taiwan-funded financial enterprises cluster. They also hoped Kunshan could become a platform for cross-Straits financial cooperation and innovation.
Taiwan-funded enterprises have made great contributions to Kunshan’s economic growth. To date, Kunshan has attracted a total investment of over $50 billion. More than 4,000 Taiwan-funded enterprises have settled in the region.
The official approval of the Kunshan Experimental Zone by the State Council in January initiated some financial pilot projects in Kunshan.
