Last week, a group-buying activity called "gathering in Taiwan" earned 5 million yuan ($814,870) from 80,000 orders in three days through Ju.taobao.com (Juhuasuan), Taobao.com's group-buying platform.
The event, which was organized by Haitong International Trading Company in Kunshan, brought together 35 items from 28 famous brands, ranging from snacks, drinks, spices and fruits.
The activity not only brought original Taiwan products to members of Taobao.com, but also serves as a good example of how Taiwan's goods can be marketed into the Chinese mainland.
Haitong will continue to work with Taobao.com, trying to hold the online event monthly. At the same time, it will set up a space specialized for Taiwan products on Taobao.com to bring more goods to the Chinese mainland.
Since Kunshan has been approved to be a national pilot city to deepen cross-Straits commerce and trade cooperation, Huaqiao International Business Service Park is trying to build an e-commerce platform to provide e-commerce services and promote cross-Straits trade of Taiwan’s specialties, industrial products, raw materials and consumer goods.
To date, Haitong has already set up partnerships with some domestic popular online shopping destinations such as Jingdong.com and Yihaodian.com to further promote their goods.
