The second China (Kunshan) Brand Products Import Expo opened with the theme of "Openness and Cooperation, Transformation and Upgrading" on Wednesday in Kunshan, Jiangsu province.

The four-day exhibition will showcase a number of products, including industrial automation equipment, environmental protection technology, IT and new energy products.

"The expo will enable Chinese enterprises to get in touch with advanced technologies from overseas," said Wan Jifei, the head of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

The expo is just one of the many trade events taking place.

The World Business Leaders (Kunshan) Conference and the Asia Pacific Chambers Congress are being held as is the China Trade Development Forum.

"It is essential for China to boost domestic demand by increasing the amount of imports," said Supachi Panitchpakdi, the Secretary General of United Nations conference on Trade and Development at the World Business Leaders (Kunshan) Conference.

More than 600 companies from 41 countries and regions, including the US, Canada, Germany, the UK, and France, are participating in the expo that covers an area of 60,000 square meters.
