The first China International Import Expo, at the Kunshan Convention and Exhibition Center, in Kunshan, Jiangsu province, ended on March 31, after displaying more than 2,000 booths representing hundreds of companies from around the world, and attracting at least 100,000 people.
A highlight of the exhibition, which opened on March 29, was the cross-strait pavilion built by the Huaqiao International Service Business Park. It was sponsored by the China Chamber of International Commerce and the Jiangsu Provincial Government.
The special pavilion's exhibits included boutiques, Taiwan's Yimei health care products, and one from the Jinzuowan Hotel. There were 29 enterprises represented, with 1,500 products, in the 425-square-meter space. It attracted 65,000 visitors to its various events, which included an “experience Taiwan” show and a wine tasting. There were also 500 million yuan ($79 million) worth of contracts signed.
The cross-strait pavilion was so successful that it has set a precedent for Taiwan companies wanting to do business in Huaqiao, Kunshan, Jiangsu province.
