MIT Boutique Pavilion, a part of the first stage project of the Taiwan Commodity Transaction Center, was unveiled on Nov 12.

MIT Boutique Pavilion starts operation in Kunshan

The center was jointly invested in by the Federation of Taiwan Industries and the Kunshan municipal government. Lu Jun, acting mayor of Kunshan, said MIT Boutique Pavilion would not only serve as a beachhead of Taiwan businesses to explore the Chinese mainland market, but also an important place for residents of Kunshan and neighboring areas to buy name brand products from Taiwan province.

The Taiwan Commodity Transaction Center is invested in by Kunshan Huaqiao Assets Management Co Ltd. and the Federation of Taiwan Industries. It occupies an area of 1.1 square kilometers. The center is scheduled to begin operation in four stages between 2011 and 2015. It will focus on the themes of made-in-Taiwan products, innovated-in-Taiwan products, brand of Taiwan, and life in Taiwan.

MIT Boutique Pavilion, the first stage project of the Taiwan Commodity Transaction Center, was announced going into operation by Guan Aiguo, the secretary of the Kunshan municipal Party committee, and Hu Zhiqiang, the mayor of Taichung in Taiwan province.

MIT Boutique Pavilion is home to 67 companies from Taiwan, exhibiting 1,700 items of products, including food, skin-care products, cosmetics, sleeping accommodations, daily necessities, and cultural stuffs.

Lu Jun said Kunshan is the densely-populated area of Taiwan businessmen. In recent years, Taiwan businesses in Kunshan have gradually transformed from manufacturing to business service, cultural innovation and modern logistics service. ECFA, in particular, supplies a big opportunity to Taiwan business.

Hu Yijia, director of Taiwan Commodity Transaction Center, said Taiwan companies moving into the center would exhibit their products on the spot and, more significantly, enjoy all sorts of services and assistances of the center to push their products to the mainland market in accordance with the unique features of their commodities.

The opening ceremony was permeated with Taiwan characteristics. Wang Caihua, an actor, was invited to perform fiery dance and pop songs. Jacky Wu said more Taiwan stars would follow his steps in entering the transaction center with their commodities.
