On November 27, the "Huaqiao Zhongyin Cup," the three-nation Invitational Croquet Tournament, was held at Huaqiao. Ten teams from Japan, South Korea and China attended the tournament.

Of the ten teams, the Fujian team from China won the world championship, while the Niigata Team and the Kyoto team from Japan and the Shanghai team and the Kunshan team from China were also quite competitive. After several runs of fierce competition, the Niigata Team won the first prize, the Shanghai team won second and the Kunshan team won third.

Croquet is popular in Huaqiao. There are more than 180 players, 16 teams, 11 artificial turf fields and 4 sand fields. In 2010, it invested another 4 million yuan to build 4 indoor croquet arenas. This same year, Huaqiao is applying for state-ratified status as a national “Croquet Town.”
