The plan to extend Shanghai line No.11 has been approved by the National Development and Reform Committee, saying that the line will be extended northward to Huaqiao making it come to prominence in the traffic system in this area.

Being the first ever railway that are to be built jointly by the two provinces’ authorized units, Shanghai line No.11 and its extension part to Huaqiao will function as a vital hub connecting Jiangsu and Shanghai, progressing the development of the traffic system in Yangtze River Delta region. An entire 1.695 billion yuan will be committed to this extension project running 6 miles. Another 6 trains will be added to ensure the carrying capacity.

The plan to build the extension part of Shanghai line No.11 has gained highly praises from the National Development and Reform Committee and the Ministry of Environmental Protection in terms of defending the circumstances and saving energy. At present all the necessary pre-work are being carried out and it is going to be put into service within two years.
