The 25-meter-tall “flower tree” is made up of wild Chinese viburnums, Kunshan’s city flower, with diameters ranging from 1.5 to 3 meters. The “flower tree” presents a picture of colors – pink, green, yellow, white, etc.
Wendy H. Moy, Chinese-American designer of the sculptures, said, “The biggest gist in its conception is harmony. The large size, special design, graceful color and harmonious hues match with Kunshan, a flourishing city.”
It is said that the flower tree is a twin sister of the giant, colorful 17-meter-tall flower sculpture at Yan’an Lu and Gubei Lu in Shanghai, based on a design by Korean artist Jeong-Hwa Choi.

The similarity between the two flower sculptures symbolizes the consistence in the construction of Huaqiao International Service Business Park and the design of Shanghai development plan.
Since last December, the general office of the Kunshan Planning Bureau has collected creative designs and ideas for sculptures in Huaqiao Economic Development Zone from the whole world. Nearly 1,000 pieces of work were collected in two months. After rounds of appraisal by experts and officials, 43 pieces were finally selected, which were molded into sculptures located in different positions in Kunshan.
Huaqiao International Service Business Park is situated in the Kunshan Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, on the border between Shanghai municipality and Jiangsu province. Covering an area of 50 square kilometers, the Park is less than 25 kilometers away from Shanghai.
