The city of Kunshan and Duke University in North Carolina launched a groundbreaking ceremony for a joint campus in January 2010.
The Kunshan-Duke campus, which is expected to take up 200 acres, will include a five-building teaching, research and residential center built by the Kunshan municipal government.
Duke University has about 13,000 undergraduate and graduate students and a world-class faculty helping to expand the frontiers of knowledge. The university has a strong commitment to applying knowledge in service to society, both near its North Carolina campus and around the world.
Kunshan is a satellite city in the greater Suzhou region that is administratively at the county-level in southeast Jiangsu, China, just outside Shanghai. It currently ranks as the most economically successful county-level administration in China.
