Taiwan-based Giantplus Technology, a manufacturer of small and medium-sized LCD panels, is planning to invest $25 million to set up capacitive touch panel production lines in Kunshan.
According to a filing at the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) by Giantplus Technology, the initial capacity of the proposed plant at Kunshan in East China’s Jiangsu province is expected to be one million units a month. This capacity is expected to expand to 2 million to 3 million units later.
The plant at Kunshan will begin sampling in the first quarter of 2010. The plant's volume-shipments are scheduled to begin in the second or third quarter, Giantplus Technology said.
Giantplus Technology also reported that it plans to expand the production capacity of its TFT LCD panel lines at its 3G plant. The expanded capacity will be in place by March, the company said.
Founded in 1997, Giantplus is based in Toufen, Miau-Li, Taiwan. The company was first listed in Taiwan's Over-the-Counter Exchange in 2004 with an initial capitalization of 0.8 b NTD. In December 2006, the company was officially listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The company’s capitalization has since grown to 3.9 billion NTD.
