Several issues involving the modern service industry were discussed during the visit. Du Lixin, vice directors of the managing committee of Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, put forth the issue of whether Huaqiao should assess the local economy with GDP or financial revenues, considering Huaqiao is a new type of development zone with the service industry as its core business. The matter was looked into further but details are yet to be released.

Du also said the modern service industry is facing an important turning point and has seen a steady upward tendency.
He urged the nation to provide support from policies and systems to better serve the modern service industry.
Wang encouraged Huaqiao to develop into a thriving metropolis and introduce a high-end manufacturing industry, adding he was impressed with Huaqiao’s creative and expanding ideas. “At present, the modern service industry, optoelectronic industry and new type equipment manufacturing industry are promising industries. Huaqiao has taken the preemptive opportunities and gained prominent achievements in design outlay, industrial aggregation and city construction.”
