Ren Xueyuan, director of the managing committee of Huaqiao economic development zone, visited Taiwan fruits sale center in Xiamen and Taiwan commodity trading market in Dadeng Island together with other officials from Kunshan city government on Tuesday and Wednesday.

They heard a report by a responsible official from Taiwan fruit sales center in Xiamen, East China’s Fujian province, and consulted the supporting policies of local government for Taiwan trade. The center covers about 20 thousand square meters with the second floor as the main business area, consisting of wholesale area, expo halls and storage facilities. Taiwan provincial farmers’ association, Tainan County farmers’ association and The Kaoqsiung Chamber of Commerce and 26 other entities have moved into the center.

On the next day, the visiting group saw around the Taiwan commodity trading market in northeastern Dadeng, located in the Taiwan Straits just six kilometers from Kinmen. The market, the only one free of tax in China, occupies 830 thousand square meters. 504 stores have been set up and storage space of 2000 square meters has been built. Close management is executed in the market, which is directly monitored by Customs. It was set up in May 1998 under the approval of the State Council and the Central Military Commission.
