July 1 marked the 88th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). In honor of this, the Huaqiao Economic Development Zone held a grand conference on the day.
The conference reviewed the CPC’s development in the past year, with members reaching conclusions on lessons and experiences.
Before the conference, 33 new members joined the CPC in a ceremony marked by each new member facing the Party flag and making a solemn vow.
Nine grass-roots Communist Party organizations, 28 communist members and 14 Party workers were praised for their advanced achievements in 2008 and awarded medals and certificates on the anniversary.
In between making congratulatory speeches by representatives and handing out awards, Party members made donations to the Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, totaling over 163,000 yuan.
