A symposium of I Ching studies (one of the oldest Chinese classic texts, also named the Classic of Changes) between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan was held at the Spring Temple Buddha tourist site in central China's Henan province on Sept 13, to seek wisdom from ancient Chinese philosophy, promote traditional Chinese culture, and boost cultural exchanges across the Strait.
The event, held by the Tianrui Group in Ruzhou, central China's Henan province, and China Zhouyi Studies Research Association, invited more than 200 scholars of I Ching, or Zhouyi from the United Nations Cultural Administration, World Chinese Union General, International Association of I Ching Studies, and other foreign scholars from America, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
The forum encourages participants to explore how to better apply the theories in I-Ching, like yin and yang, the five elements theory, geomancy and geography, to serve the development of modern society. During the event, many activities about traditional Chinese culture are carried out, such as calligraphic and painting shows.
The organizer, Tianrui Group, established in 1983, has developed into a corporate group engaging in cement, business trades, logistics, tourism and cultural industry. It ranks among the top 20 enterprises in Henan province. The group always plays an active role in public welfare establishments, taking its social responsibilities seriously.
Lien Chan, the honorary chairman of Kuomintang, sent congratulatory telegrams to the symposium.
