A conference to discuss environmental protection work in the city of Pingdingshan, Central China’s Henan province, was held on Feb 17 in the municipal government office building.

Yan Jiyin, a member of the Party leadership group of Pingdingshan municipal government, presided over the conference.

Huang Xiangli, a member of the standing committee of the CPC Pingdingshan municipal committee and vice-mayor, was on hand to summarize the city’s ecological civilization construction in 2013. He recognized the governmental and related departments’ efforts and achievements in environmental protection, which, he explained, was a significant measure for sustainable development.

For the next stage, he stressed innovative thought and effective measures were needed to further the focus on environmental protection, which includes emission reduction, air pollution prevention and control, and rural environmental protection.

Huang urged the Party committee, government and departments at every level in the city to cooperate with different professionals in order to give priority to environmental protection and to ensure the completion of related tasks in 2014.
