According to data issued by the Ruzhou tourism bureau, the National Day holiday brought 310,000 tourists to the city of Ruzhou, Henan province. During the week, tourism revenue amounted to 17.3 million yuan ($2.83 million), an increase of 21 percent from the same period last year.
Staff from the Ruzhou tourism bureau said that self-driving tours from outside Ruzhou were popular due to the newly-launched Tourism Law and free access to the expressway. Famous scenic spots, such as Fengxue Temple and the Strang Slope Scenic Area, were filled with cars from Hebei, Anhui and Hubei province.
“We wanted to enjoy a relaxing holiday so we didn't want to travel far. My friend recommended Ruzhou. It's not that far from Ruyang so we drove here,” said a man surnamed Zhang from the city of Ruzhou.
This year, all holiday-related departments in Ruzhou worked closely to promote the tourism situation. Thanks to their efforts, four shared goals – safety, order, quality and effectiveness – have been achieved.
In addition to enhanced publicity and promotion, efforts were also made to strengthen safety inspections and service quality in all areas. Even with the large number of tourists, the city maintained order and safety.
