On June 11, the sixth National Cultural Heritage Day in China, the Ruzhou Porcelain Museum gave admission to Ruzhou residents free of charge, in an effort to promote public awareness about preserving Chinese intangible cultural heritage.
The theme of this year’s Cultural Heritage Day was “intangible cultural heritage and beautiful life.” The second Saturday of June was first declared China's National Cultural Heritage Day by the State Council in 2006, in a bid to strengthen the protection of the country's cultural heritage sites and customs.
Five other museums in Pingdingshan also gave free admission on National Cultural Heritage Day, including Ruzhou Fengxue Temple, West Henan Revolution Memorial Hall in Lushan county, Sus’ Memorial Hall in Jiaxian county (Su Dongpo and his brother and father were all great literatus in the Song Dynasty), Confucius’ Temple in Jiaxian county, County Yamen (the ancient county office) of Yexian county.
