There are many historic sites and cultural relics in Ruzhou.
The thousand-year temple, Fengxue Temple, is one of the four greatest temples in China, together with Baima (white horse) Temple, Shaolin Temple, and Daxiangguo Temple. It was also listed as one of the nation’s historical and cultural protection areas.
Ruzhou Hot Springs, also known as magic water, contain more than 50 kinds of microelements. The famous health resort welcomed many kings, queens, literati and poets in the Han Dynasty (206BC-AD220) and Tang Dynasty (AD618-907). The twin hills, with their uniquely queer style, and Ziyun Mountain, with its exquisite scenery, have attracted many tourists.
Ru porcelain, ranking highest among the five most famous kinds of porcelain in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), together with Ru stones transcribing arts and Ru calligraphic arts, are called the “three treasures of Ruzhou.” The Zhanggongxiang kiln site has been confirmed to be the site of the official kiln of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127).
The Qu Opera, one of the three most popular types of drama in Henan province, originated in Ruzhou.
