In the morning of July 10, five orphans with cerebral palsy from Xining Children's Welfare Association in Qinghai province were hospitalized in Ruzhou Jingeng Hospital. The young patients from afar were warmly accepted by the medical workers at the hospital.

This February, the Ministry of Civil Affairs held the 2010 “Tomorrow Plan” Year-end Summary Briefing-cum-Experience Exchanging Meeting on Demonstration Base of Cerebral Palsy in Guangzhou.

Song Zhaopu, invited by the Ministry of Civil Affairs as the only doctor of traditional Chinese medicine on cerebral palsy, gave lectures of specialist knowledge on cerebral palsy treatment and rehabilitation, and on unique traditional Chinese medicine-assisted physiotherapy. The therapy and its remarkable effect impressed the participants-leaders from civil affairs departments and welfare agencies at provincial and municipal levels.

A month ago, after an on-site screening in Qinghai province by physicians of the Cerebral Palsy Department, the hospital initially named 10 CP orphans suitable for treatment. The children who received treatment that day was the first group; others will soon follow.

JinGeng Rehabilitation Hospital is identified as the “rehabilitation center for children with cerebral palsy in Henan province” by the Henan Disabled Persons Federation, as well as the designated hospital of provincial rehabilitation projects for the “Tomorrow Plan” under the Ministry of Civil Affairs. In two years 186 CP orphans from 15 welfare homes have been treated, of whom 46 were selected by foreign adoption agencies with another 30 meeting adoption standards.
