This year’s 7th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industrial Fair became a showcase for cultural products and practices from Lushan county in Pingdingshan.

During the fair from May 13 to May 16, Lushan county participants displayed six works of art and cultural performances considered intangible cultural heritage. County officials displayed silk flowers, paper cuts, hand-tore artware and clay sculptures. They also demonstrated the traditional way of extracting oil and story telling accompanied by the playing of three-string instruments and drums.

Visitors praised the clay sculpture Man and Wife made by Wang Zhongfu, the paper-cut titled Men Tilling the Farm and Women Weaving and a silk flower exhibit presented by Lushan residents. At the expelling exhibit, visitors learned about how to extract oil in a tranditional way. One visitor, Mr. Wang, expressed his willingness for making money with this technique.

The China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair attracted about1,900 exhibitors from around China to showcase their cultural products, ideas and innovations in the fields of publications, film, music, animation and printing. The fair covered an area of 108,000 square meters. The fair’s eight exhibit halls included one showcasing China's intangible cultural heritage.

This year’s fair was hosted by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Commerce. Since the first fair was held in 2004, the annual event has become a national platform for cultural exchange and trade and a way to promote China's cultural products and practices to the world.
