High-speed railway to transform downtown Nanyang

On Feb 28, Nanyang chaired a special meeting to discuss the design of the high-speed railway network.

A video was played during the meeting before architects delivered detailed reports on their design schemes for the high-speed railway network, environmental protection, the landscape, and a musical fountain at Riyue Lake, a nationally renowned water conservancy scenic spot in Henan province. Officials from the local natural resources and planning, forestry and transport departments offered their advice on improving the designs.

Huo Haosheng, the mayor of Nanyang, said that the high-speed railway network would be crucial for generations to come and was an iconic part of the new downtown landscape.

We should always put the people first and carry out the landscape project meticulously, efficiently, and in an environmentally friendly way to create a place where people and nature can live in harmony, he noted. The musical fountain at Riyue Lake should consist of unique themes, vivid colors, classic melodies, and dynamic cultural items and be a pleasant place for locals to visit, Huo insisted. The mayor asked the local departments and designers to carry out in-depth research on planting and landscape designs for urban centers and main city roads in order to create an attractive green landscape throughout Nanyang.
