Shaolin kung fu enthralls audiences in Nanyang

A troupe of 18 monks from the Shaolin Temple in Henan's Dengfeng city were invited to perform martial arts in Neixiang county of Nanyang on July 15, in a bid to promote the area's rich cultural resources as well as enrich residents' daily lives.

On the stage, performers displayed Shaolin-style kung fu, such as Shaolin Boxing, which includes difficult and intricate moves that require demanding speed and precision.

Some 18 different kinds of weapons were wielded by the Shaolin performers, mesmerizing the audience with the mystical world of traditional Chinese martial arts.

A vocal rendition of the legend of Shaolin Temple and acrobatic shows were also performed on the day.
