Nanyang Institute of Technology recently established an e-commerce college, the first of its kind in Henan province and the whole country, reported Nanyang Daily on July 2.
The newly established e-commerce college integrates academic education, non-academic education and social work to make full use of advantages, create school characteristics and cultivate qualified talent in electronic business. It plans to enroll 130 undergraduates in network marketing and cross-border e-commerce majors and 100 junior college students majoring in electronic commerce this autumn semester.
Nanyang has Henan's second national level comprehensive bonded zone authorized by the State Council and has become an inland open port, which provides beneficial condition for the contribution to the Belt and Road Initiative. The nation also plans to establish a national e-commerce demonstration base in the city, increasing demand for e-commerce professionals in Nanyang.
To promote local electronic business and deepen industrial transformation, Nanyang Institute of Technology started the e-commerce major early in 2002 and has cultivated over 1,000 e-commerce professionals who are now serving for the society. The establishment of the new college will provide more e-commerce talent and help promote the development of local electronics businesses.
