China Unicom in the city of Nanyang, Central China’s Henan province, opened its fourth-generation (4G) network – or Time-Division Long-Term Evolution (TD-LTE) network – on Jan 8.
Zhang Mingti, vice mayor of the city, said China Unicom’s Nanyang branch is playing an important role in the construction of a smart city with its advanced telecommunication technologies and high-quality service.
He hoped the operator could speed up the construction of the network and improve both the coverage and quality of service, so as to play a bigger role in Nanyang’s digitalization.
Nanyang is the only demonstration pilot city for TD-LTE/FDD-LTE in Henan province.
