The fifth Fuxi Cultural and Tourism Festival and trade fair opened in the historic site of Fuxi, Xinle city in Hebei province on April 7.

Xinle is dated back from the Neolithic Age and has a history of more than 7,800 years. It is the provincial heritage and leading cultural tourism site in Hebei.

Xinle city has held four Fuxi Cultural and Tourism Festivals since 2000 that has attracted over 300 scholars and 300,000 tourists from more than 20 countries and regions including US, Japan and South Korea.

It was themed, "Same roots and ancestors, create mutual development" and was aimed at developing tourism in Hebei. It will display the city image and stimulate economic development.

The festival, integrating tourism with the trade fair has achieved positive social and economic benefits. It arranged several local product exhibitions during this year's event that attracted hundreds of companies to take part in.

The event this year published 50 projects with an investment of 39.87 billion yuan ($ 6.30 billion), covering the fields of agriculture, industrial parks, pharmaceutical chemicals, food production, equipment manufacturing, infrastructures, cultural tourism, logistics, manufacturing and social undertakings. It has also signed 29 contracts with a total investment of 6.68 billion yuan.
