Organizers of this year's Eco Forum Global Conference in the city of Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, June 26 - 28 report that thousands of state leaders, business executives, scholars, and others have confirmed their attendance at the EFG, whose theme this year centers on embracing a new eco-civilization, new agenda, new normal and new action.
In commenting on this, Zhang Xinsheng, secretary general of EFG, remarked, "With China's new normal, protecting the environment is crucial to development and if we sacrifice our ecology and environment for development it will lead to failure."
This year is also important because the UN is setting new sustainable development goals for the 2015-2030 period for global development, so the EFG conference has it on the agenda, in addition to which it will cover green industrial transformation through innovation, human green urbanization, modern governance, and an ecological red line.
It will also have around 30 forums with the attentions mainly on a green economy, the environment, and construction of eco-civilization.
