Guiyang plans to become a "big data valley" and already has many groundbreaking achievements in the field.

With a range of bold moves, the city has started a "big data revolution". The rise of big data related industries in Guiyang has created a solid foundation for the development of the big data industry in China.

The city's big data initiative also has fueled its industrial reform and stimulated economic growth.

The relatively undeveloped city of Guiyang is hoping to stand out with its development of big data business.

In Premier Li Keqiang's congratulatory message to the Guiyang International Big Data Expo 2015, which opened on May 26, he said, "Data can be seen as basic resources and an important productive force."

The city sees big data as a decisive choice in economic growth and ecological protection and a way to take the lead in urbanization by using it to solve problems in traffic, food and healthcare.

The city has already established preferential policies for big data entrepreneurs and has the resources to attract top companies with new projects.

Examples include JD.com, one of China's largest B2C online retailers; CBC, an investment company in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors; Infobird, a leading call center and cloud computing service provider; and Alibaba, a Chinese e-commerce company.
