The ongoing Guiyang International Big Data Expo held from May 26 to 29, in the city of Guiyang, Guizhou province announced China's Big Data-Guiyang Manifesto today as part of an even larger effort under Internet Plus.

The manifesto includes the State's plans, strategies and prospects of the big data industry.

The Internet Plus announcement, with big data a major part of it,came from Premier Li Keqiang, who brought it up during the two sessions in March, by remarking that the favorable wind of Internet Plus is set to carry the Chinese economy to a higher level.

The purpose of Internet Plus is to combine the mobile Internet, cloud computing, big data and the Internet of Things with manufacturing to encourage the e-commerce, industrial networks, and Internet banking, and to help Internet companies go international.

Big data technology's share of the service market in China is expected to reach $617 million in 2016, according to a forecast made by Internet Data Center, which also noted that the scale of the Chinese market will mean greater space for the development of the big data industry.

Guiyang hopes to take the lead in the big data business which will in turn help both the economy and the ecology in the city, hence the reason for the Guiyang International Big Data Expo, whose theme is "Big Data Security and Development in the Era of Internet Plus".

The expo, which runs to May 29, has attracted more than 300 well-known companies from China and abroad, including Huawei, Alibaba, Lenovo, Google, HP and Microsoft and some leading figures in the Internet era, such as Jack Ma, chairman of the Alibaba Group, Zhou Hongyi, chairman of the Internet security company Qihoo, and Terry Guo, chairman of Foxconn.
