The city of Guiyang, Guizhou province is currently trying out a free public WiFi project, known as "D-GuiYang", which began on March 30, using its Confucius Institute as the second place in Guiyang to get involved in the free WiFi move, following the Jinyang Coach Station.
Anyone at the institute can search for the "D-GuiYang" network on the Internet and connect to it for free without a password. The WiFi can provide high speed Internet services for as many as 1,000 network terminals at the same time, with download speeds reaching 1 Mbit/sec.
