To ensure that factory emissions meet environmental standards, Guizhou Niulaixiang Food Co Ltd, one of China’s most well-known food enterprises has recently demolished its old equipment, and new environment-friendly manufacturing equipment is on the way.
"Please have a look at the contracts, we have signed purchasing contracts with environmental equipment manufacturers, and they will come to our company to install the new environment friendly equipment in a few days," said Sun Jinbo, chairman of the company, while talking to officials from the local environment bureau.
"In recent years, economic development in our county is flourishing, but the emission of those enterprises still cannot meet the standard. So early this June, the local environment bureau implemented a pollution rectification order to supervise every relevant factory's emission to meet the environmental standards," said an official from the Zhenning county environmental bureau of Guizhou province.
"Right after we got the order on June 10, we shut down production and decided to replace our old sulfur removal equipment with a new type ceramic sulfur removal equipment and granite water filter equipment, costing a total of 500,000 yuan ($ 80,512.70)," Sun said."The new equipment's sulfur removal rate can reach 80 percent."
Niulaixiang Food Co Ltd is well-known for their beef snacks, such as beef jerky, with an annual product value of 60 million yuan. The company plans to purchase a new environment friendly boiler that can run on crop straw.
"We plan to replace the old boiler with the new one when our annual output reaches 10 million tons, with an annual product value of 100 million yuan," Sun said.
Niulaixiang is just one example of Zhenning county's pollution rectification project.
"Boiler reformation is a priority for the pollution rectification project. By June 30, 2015, we have to make sure all boilers in our county have completed reforms, replacing coal fuel with gas fuel," said Guan Songtao, director of the Zhenning county environmental bureau.
