Guizhou has launched a special recruitment plan aiming at hiring 14,056 teachers for posts in schools in impoverished rural areas.
The new recruits will bring the total number of teachers working in impoverished areas in Guizhou to about 60,000, according to the Guizhou provincial education department.
In the past 7 years, Guizhou has assigned 44,081 teachers to work in 4,000 rural schools in 60 remote poverty-stricken counties in the province.
The special recruitment plan will relieve the shortage of teachers in Guizhou's impoverished areas, especially for courses like music, sports, art and English.
An official with the provincial education department said that the teachers will sign contracts for three years, and they will receive the same salaries as local teachers.
