The China's Beautiful Village Summit was held in Xingyi city, Guizhou province, from Feb 26 to 27. Experts from home and abroad gave speeches on the development of the Chinese countryside on Feb 27.

"The development of the rural tourism industry should pay attention to protecting national characteristics," said Erik Holm Petersen, an expert from the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

"Constructing beautiful villages is an important part of beautiful China, and it is fundamental," said Zhang Yuxiang, a Party member from the Ministry of Agriculture.

"The criteria of China's Beautiful Villages focuses on environment and village living standards," said Zhang Yuxi, Party branch secretary of Xinfadi village，Beijing.

Xie Yang, an inspector from the Rural Economy Research Department of the Development Research Center of the State Council, said,"Village construction should strengthen environmental protection and ecological construction."

Representatives from South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Austria were also in attendance.
