China Railway Construction Corporation donated 3 million yuan on Oct 23 to the Guizhou Hope Project, aiming to build canteens for schools in poverty-stricken mountainous areas in Guizhou.

The money will be used to build 12 canteens for primary schools there, providing dining areas for 5,000 students altogether. This is expected to better the school conditions in such poverty stricken mountainous areas.

Leaders both from the provincial government and China Railway Construction Corporation attended the donation ceremony in Guiyang.

The Hope Project for mountainous areas in Guizhou province is headed by the Provincial Committee of the CPC and co-launched by the China Youth Development Foundation, the Chunhui Action Development Foundation and the Youth Volunteer Foundation in Guizhou province. By the end of October, it has already accepted donations totaling 60 million yuan from all walks of society. A total of 167 hope projects have been initiated, of which 35 primary schools were constructed, benefiting about 70,000 students.

China Railway Construction Corporation is closely connected with Guizhou province. Many railways and expressways running through the province were constructed by the group, making remarkable contributions to the economic development of Guizhou.
