Jiang Zengwei, Vice Minister of MOFCOM, delivered a speech:
The Chinese alcohol industry has seen steady growth, both in production and market demand, as the economy grows and people live a better life.
The industry mainly has three features. Firstly, the output and demand have been steadily increasing. In 2011, the output of wine and beer totaled 7.1 billion liters, a growth of 13.4% over a yearly basis. Alcohol manufacturers of relatively bigger scale had an output value of 670 billion yuan ($105.3), increasing by 33.2%. The industrial sales reached 650 billion yuan ($102.1), an increase of 64.7%. Secondly, the number of the alcohol sales companies has seen a visible increase. 2.17 million such companies registered at the commerce bureau, which accounts for 73% of the total number. Among these companies are 210,000 wholesalers and 1.96 million retailers. Thirdly, the alcohol import rapidly increases. In 2011, the alcohol export was 27 million liters, up by 20.9% and the export value was half a billion dollars, an increase of 51.3%. The import was 50 million litres, a growth of 30.3%, worth of $ 2.4 billion, increasing by 58.1%.
The Ministry of Commerce of PRC (MOFCOM) has released Guidance on Enhancing the Regulation of the Alcohol Market during the 12th Five-year Plan in 2011, in order to better manage the industry. In the Guidance, the MOFCOM suggested increase the export, and hold more alcohol expos, expand both the domestic and foreign market need, balance the supply and demand.
The international alcohol expos, such as the International Alcoholic Beverages Expo (Guizhou) China, can make full use of both the domestic and foreign markets. They can promote the international trades and introduce in the advanced business, management and logistics modes. They will play an important role in the industrial growth.
I hope Guizhou province can attract more sales companies and investors to the second expo and increase the sales at this platform of investment and exchange. Meanwhile, we also need to pay attention to the product qualities and patents. In this way, the second expo can become an effective, high-standard international professional expo with its own features.
