Baihua Lake is located at Zhuchang Town, 22 kilometers northwest of Guiyang City. There are 108 islands in the lake with azure water, full of lingering charm that features water townships along the Yangtze River.

With a natural landscape of lakes and hills as well as a limestone landform, the scenic spot has more than 50 sights, 23 of which are open to the public. The scenic spot is renowned for its numerous lake branches and islands. With mountains and low islands, it is naturally divided into three lakes: the long and narrow South Lake, the open and wide Center Lake, and the North Lake surrounded by mountains and meandering rivers, filled with islands and wonderful bends.

The upstream and downstream of the Baihua Lake are both long and narrow valleys, but the middle of the lake is wide. The Lake is characterized as if reflecting a “mountain in the lake, and lake in the mountain”. It looks as though the mountains and the lake merge together. On the shore, to the southeast of the Baihua Lake, lies Zhuchang Bao, a military castle used for billeting troops in the Ming dynasty. There are three stone mountains, “General I”, “General II”, and “General III” respectively. It is said that three generals assigned by Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang fought here at that time.

The best season to visit the Baihua Lake is spring when hundreds of flowers are blooming in a riot of color. That is also how Baihua Lake gets its name.

As a manmade wetland, Baihua Lake can purify water, and prevent domestic sewage of the surrounding villages from going into the lake. The wetland is actually an “Ecological Gate” for areas surrounding the Baihua Lake.
