Key CPC session makes a splash in Guangxi: achievements and blueprints

The fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee was successfully held in Beijing from Oct 26 to 29, in which a new blueprint for China's economic and social development in the next five to 15 years has been created.
The convening of the session has aroused strong interest among the cadres and the public of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
The session has concluded a series of achievements made during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).
Tang Xiuling, executive vice president of Baise Cadre College, said that the remarkable achievements made during the 13th Five-Year Plan period have further demonstrated the political advantages of the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the country's socialist system.
During the last five years, China has built the world's largest social security system, with more than 1.3 billion people covered with basic medical insurance. This year, the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic has achieved major strategic results. Liao Pinhu, director of Guangxi Health Commission, said that related departments in the region will improve the health system and basic public health services.
"The most notable achievement of the 13th Five-Year Plan is the decisive achievement of poverty alleviation. A total of 55.75 million people living in rural areas have been lifted out poverty," said Wen Xianglin, a researcher of the Guangxi Poverty Alleviation Office.
A future plan has also been issued during the session.
Chen Lisheng, dean of the Guangxi Academy of Social Science, noted that the plenary meeting has planned for the next five to 15 years, as well as issued a political declaration and a strategic road map for the new development period for the whole Party and the country.
Cao Kunhua, director of the Guangxi Science and Technology Department, was deeply impressed by the session's proposal of insisting on innovation, as well as developing science and technology for national development. He also said that Guangxi will make efforts to forge a new path of innovation and development from "strong talents and technology" to "strong industry and economy."
Li Jieyun, director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that the commission will focus on developing the real economy and improving the capacity of state-owned enterprises for independent innovation.
Liu Shengyou, deputy director of the Guangxi Industry and Information Department, said that Guangxi will build a new development pattern and promote the high-quality development of manufacturing according to the suggestions of the plenary meeting.
The session has brought great optimism for future development.
Wang Lei, secretary general of the Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), said that the plenary session has proposed to implement a high-level opening to the outside world and open up new prospects for cooperation. CAEXPO will continue to undertake its own responsibilities to promote China-ASEAN cooperation.
Guo Xuquan, an inspector of the Guangxi Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department, said that relevant departments will vigorously develop modern characteristic agriculture according to the demands of the meeting to give priority to the development of agricultural and rural areas, as well as to promote rural revitalization.
"Accelerating the transformation of being a manufacturer of quantity to one of quality is what our company is concerned most about," said Pan Shiqing, chairman of Guangxi Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group. The group will strive to be among the top 500 in the world in next five years.
Huang Jiadi, chairman of Royal Group, expressed his gratitude to the nation for attaching great importance to the private economy, which has helped private enterprises like Royal Group keep growing.
Zhu Jianhe, chairman of Beibu Gulf Investment Group, stressed that the company will make full use of its advantages and following the meeting's suggestion of participating in the construction of major projects at the autonomous region level to promote infrastructure construction.
