The local government of Jinchengjiang district in Hechi has signed a contract with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region State-owned Qipo Forest Farm on May 21 to jointly construct a State-owned commercial forest base of high quality.
The project, which is the first of its kind after the reform of State-owned forest farms under the cooperation between an autonomous region-level one and a municipal or county-level one, will be established in Dashantang Forest Farm in Jinchengjiang.
The project covers an overall operation area of 41,900 mu (2793.33 hectares) and will last for 30 years.
Both sides will devote efforts to increase the commercial forest scale in the farm to more than 10 million mu by measures like the acquisition of collective forest land.
Currently, Hechi is home to 18 State-owned forest farms, with an operation area of 1.65 million mu and total assets of about 2.2 billion yuan ($309.06 million).
