Donglan county was included in the list of national ecological conservation and construction demonstration areas recently, the only one in Hechi.

The list, jointly published by 11 ministries and commissions, such as National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Land and Resources and Ministry of Environmental Protection, includes 30 cities and 113 counties. One city and four counties were from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Innovation and demonstration are two important factors to determine a demonstration area. On equal conditions, the selected demonstration areas can benefit from preferential funds and policy support compared with others within a region. Under management regulations, the demonstration areas must make scientific arrangements towards each fund, fulfill construction tasks step by step and use funds efficiently.

Donglan county has organized a series of activities for ecological construction in recent years. By conceding land to forestry, desertification control, ecological public-welfare forest protection and tree planting, the county's forest coverage stands at 77.6 percent and ecological resources have become a competitive advantage.

The development scheme of ecological conservation and construction demonstration area compiled by Donglan county includes 66 projects, covering key fields such as ecological construction, green industry, pollution control and social development.
