birdThe opening ceremony for the 13th sports meet of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region was held in the Zhongheng Stadium in the city of Wuzhou on Nov 7.
Fangchenggang sent more than 200 athletes to compete in the sports meet, who are excellent enough to win gold medals in 10 sports events, including weight lifting, Wushu free combat, judo, tennis, badminton and swimming.
As the most important sports event in Guangxi, the sports meet is held every four years and it will end on Nov 18 this year. It attracted a total of 29 teams, including 14 from cities in the autonomous region and 15 from different industries.
The total number of participating athletes, coaches and team leaders is 6,326. Some 715 gold medals will be awarded in 31 sports events, 20 in the youth group and 11 in adult group, making it the largest sports meet in Guangxi so far.
Under the theme of "Sports, Happiness, Health and Harmony", the event aims to increase public involvement in sports and feeling of striving for dreams.
