Zhanjiang's friendship with Macao cemented with a new road
Updated: 2016-11-10
A road named Macao, not in the special administrative region, but to be paved in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province will serve to closen ties between the two sides in business, culture and tourism.
With a total length of 900 meters and width of 28 meters, the government-administrated road, starting from Yongping Middle Road in Zhanjiang's economic and technological development zone and stretching to Guangzhouwan Avenue to include a section south of Wanda Plaza, will be renamed Macao Road.
"These areas have been selected because they will be built into Zhanjiang's commercial center," said Liang Chunming, director of the Zhanjiang Foreign Affairs & Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau. Liang also added that features of Macao will be detailed in the architectures, tourist attractions, and shopping malls, a feat not easily realized without a better understanding of Macao or close communication.
Liang also hoped the roads, with an exotic charm, will help to promote Zhanjiang's international image.
