China Telecom Zhanjiang branch launched the "Internet Plus Industry" action to interconnect traditional industries with innovative information technologies, which will cover key fields including government administration, education, manufacturing, medical care and agriculture, during a press conference in Zhanjiang on May 27.
The action, featuring the "Internet Plus" initiative of integrating Internet technologies with modern manufacturing through online platforms and IT technology, aims to promote the transformation and upgrading of Zhanjiang's traditional industries and innovation development.
"We will promote the construction of optical networks, accelerate the deployment of wireless broadband network and help Zhanjiang develop into a 'smart city'," said Zhan Yongxiong, general manager of China Telecom Zhanjiang branch.
Smart city refers to one that uses digital technologies to enhance performance and promote public well-being while reducing costs and resource consumption.
At the age of "Internet Plus", the Zhanjiang branch will accelerate integration of "optical+", "4G+" and "WiFi+", strengthen the application capability of cloud computing, big data and the Internet of Things, and build an "Internet Plus" ecosystem, Zhan explained.
