Zhanjiang municipal government officials led by Mayor Wang Zhongbing made inspections in one of the construction sites of the Southern Maritime Valley, a comprehensive science park construction project, in Tiaoshu village in Mazhang district, Zhanjiang, South China's Guangdong province on May 25.

The Southern Maritime Valley, which covers an area of 400 mu (26.67 hectares), will be built into a high-tech incubation center that will provide various services such as financial policy guidelines, products R&D, quality testing and transfer of intellectual property and technology.

"Tiaoshu village, as the initial site for the project, has welcomed a rare opportunity for development. High-tech enterprises and personnel from around the country will gather here in the course of next several years. I hope we can make joint efforts to promote the construction of Southern Maritime Valley," said mayor Wang, calling on all involved parties to speed up their efforts.

Wang also said that the Southern Maritime Valley, which is designated as one of the key platforms for Guangdong's innovation-driven development, will be a significant project for implementing the innovation-driven strategy.

Zhanjiang's future depends on innovation-driven development, for which Southern Maritime Valley will be a key exponent, Wang stressed.
