Gansu province took part in the China International Travel Mart (CITM) in 2014, which was held at Shanghai‘s New International Expo Centre from Nov 14-16. Its decorations of Dunhuang frescos, watchtowers in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC- AD 24), the Gansu section of the Great Wall, and many other images of the Silk Road and Gansu drew numerous visitors from home and abroad.

The Gansu Province Tourism Administration decided to send more than 200 people, from nine city and more than 30 county tourism departments, and around 20 tourist sites, travel agencies, hotels and craft manufacturing enterprises, to participate in the China International Travel Mart to publicize Gansu’s tourism.

The Gansu province government values the China International Travel Mart (CITM). As the largest professional travel mart in the Asia-Pacific area, the Chinese travel mart has profound influence on national tourism by drawing worldwide attention every year. This year, the travel mart’s exhibition hall covers around 57,000 square meters, with 2,427 booths and more than 106 countries and regions taking part. The travel mart is an annual event held in Shanghai and Kunming in Yunnan province alternately. It is jointly organized by the China National Tourism Administration, Civil Aviation Administration of China and Shanghai municipal people's government.
