The Qijia Culture Museum opened in Guanghe county, Northwest China’s Gansu province on Oct 14.

As a cultural landmark of Guanghe county, the Qijia Culture Museum is expected to play an important role in promoting the ancient culture.

Qijia (2200 BC-1600 BC) was an early Bronze Age culture distributed around the upper Yellow River region of Gansu and eastern Qinghai. It is regarded as one of the earliest Bronze Age cultures.

The new museum is the result of a 42.2 million yuan ($6.27 million) investment by the local government after the previous exhibition hall dedicated to Qijia needed to be expanded in order to carry out scientific research.

According to Zhao Yanlin, director of Guanghe county, the Qijia Culture Museum will play an important role in protecting and publicizing Qijia culture.
