The 2016 Silk Road International Music Festival kicked off at Lanzhou city, capital of Gansu province on May 21, with a concert featuring the Buddhist and folk music of regions along the Silk Road.
The festival, consisting of summits, forums and high standard concerts, will take place in several main cities along the Silk Road, an ancient trade road stretching from North China to West Asia and Europe.
The Chinese Musician Association, the Gansu International Cultural Exchange Center and the Silk Road International Music Federation jointly hosted the event.
The music festival is intended to become a global platform for countries along the Silk Road, including China, to share their musical cultures and cooperate in creating music, according to the organizers.
